All cars should be serviced as directed by the vehicle manufacturer's recommendations. Most modern cars only need a service once a year or to a specified mileage, but high mileage cars may require a service more often. The manufacturer's service handbook will set what is best for your car.

When organising a car service, it's important that you establish what the service includes. Thanks to European legislation*, maintenance or service work carried out on cars within their warranty period does not have to be done exclusively by the main dealer.

European Commission rules on car block exemption came into full effect in October 2003. This new ruling allows independent garages, such as Unipart Car Care Centres, the same access to technical information on your car from the manufacturer.  So providing  the service is in accordance with the Vehicle Assembler's servicing schedules (and is recorded as such) and the parts used are of either 'original spare parts' or 'matching quality parts', you can get your car serviced at a Unipart Car Care Centre during a vehicle's  warranty period without invalidating the vehicle manufacturer's warranty.

Unipart Car Care Centres can do this because they carry out normal maintenance and repair services using VM sourced schedules from the Unipart Kis-on-line system, and Unipart branded service parts that are parts 'matching quality' as certified by the manufacturers.
